Heritage Open Days (York)

Heritage Open Days is England’s largest festival of history and culture, taking place each September. Thousands of volunteers across England organise free events celebrating local history, architecture and culture. It is a chance to see hidden places and try new experiences, all free to explore. For 2026, the festival runs from 11 to 20 September 2026. The national theme for 2026 is “Everyday Histories.”
