Did you know that less than 10% of the cocoa pod is used in the chocolate making process - leaving more than 90% of the fruit to be lost or go to waste.
Join us at York Cocoa Works for a tasting exploration of ground-breaking innovative developments and creations that are salvaging and showcasing the cocoa pod and plant material with our It's NOT Chocolate taster menu.
With increasing price pressures and climate change impacts, viably growing cocoa is becoming increasingly challenging in many of the origin communities we work with at York Cocoa Works. While these challenges are complex and rely on some significant system re-wiring could some of the answers lie with exploring alternative applications of the cocoa plant?
From fruit juice 20 times sweeter than sugar, to incredibly high fibre flour, we'll be exploring all of the other things that the cocoa plant could be used for!
