About This Event
Described as a ‘classic tale of star-crossed love,’
Belgrave Road
has potential to tug at the heart strings.
Belgrave Road
is a classic tale of star-crossed love with a contemporary twist, set in Manish’s hometown of Leicester. The novel follows Mira, newly arrived in Britain from India after an arranged marriage to Rajiv. As she tries to adjust to her new life, Mira begins to suspect her husband is having an affair. When the family’s garage business struggles, Mira takes a job outside the home, where she meets Tahliil, a Somali cleaner at the neighbouring cash and carry. The novel alternates between Mira and Tahliil’s perspectives, exploring their unexpected connection and the challenges of their lives. As they fall in love, they discover that home may be more about a person than a place, though neither they nor we can foresee where their journey will lead.
Originally from Leicester,
